FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 23
Chloe wasn’t feeling well, probably down about no agency visits in Milan, but she gathered her courage and called a few agencies to see if they had open calls.
UP NEXT
A receptionist at Next said they had open calls before 1:00 or after 3:00. It was nearly noon but she quickly showered and we rushed downtown. By the time we neared the neighborhood, it was 12:45. We decided to shop and have lunch before her agency visit.
Into COS we slipped, where Chloe bought an adorable dress and I bought a practice green wool sweater. Though rainy I insisted we walked through the deserted Giardini Pubblici Indo Montenelli, Chloe would have much preferred we take a tram. On the other side of the park, was a part of the city that felt completely different than anywhere we’d been so far. It felt like Manhattan’s upper Westside by Central Park.
PANINIS!!!
Our first Panini in Italy at Panino Giusto. Ah, so good! Chocked full of business types wrapping up their lunches, we took a seat among them. When Chloe left for the agency, I moved to a nearby café.
Once in the building where the agency was located, Chloe took the stairs to the 13th floor. It’s a good way to calm nerves. But she was on the wrong side of the building and had to come back down. In the lobby, a confused concierge, redirected her to the elevator. The receptionist was more confused than the concierge and told her Next didn’t have open calls.
AN AGENCY OF INTEREST
When I saw that she liked one of my Instagram posts, I knew something strange was afoot. The receptionist had asked her to wait in the lobby. She was killing time. Eventually she was shown into an office and met a man, whose name we don’t know, and he liked her! He said he would bring her up at the Monday meeting, but needed to have Chloe’s Vancouver agent contact him. He took snaps, an indication that he was serious.
The winds shifted. Chloe was elated when she came to the café. She immediately sent an email to her Vancouver agent asking her to get in touch with Next.
