FRIDAY, AUGUST 9
A storm hit. Rain pelted Ballinatona. It reminded us of the rain in Split, Croatia, but even harder. We planned to go to the Bantry Market in the morning and then meeting Olive in the afternoon. All was cancelled or postponed. Meeting Olive, walking the farm and learning everything quickly about the house, pigs, dogs, hens, and cats was necessary but it didn’t happen until after Callanetics.
The first time we went to the Callanetics class last September…nearly a year ago (amazing!)…it was spitting rain, too. The last stretch of dirt road was muddy and potted with puddles, and a dog that taunted us near class, was dripping in mud.
We had missed Justina, our teacher. She wasn’t quite as sassy during our class but she inflicted the usual pain…and commensurate consequences. Muscles we had forgotten existed in our butts, legs and abdomen were rudely awakened.
Four more classes before we leave!
