WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 17
The day of departure had arrived. Olive came by to get Saffi, and I cried as she was driven away. We love that dog.
Off we went in Fiona’s car, stopping in Clonakilty — not exactly in the town but out in the middle of nowhere, in farm land, where I’d found a printing company (geez) — to get our airline tickets printed. Then we drove to the Cork Airport where we left the car for Fiona. Because it’s Ireland, and because it’s Cork and a small town, we left the keys with a stranger who worked at the car rental office. “No problem,” she said. She would give the keys to Fiona.
A bus took us from the Cork airport to the Dublin airport. From there, we flew to Edinburgh. Not sure how to get to the Homeaway apartment where we would staying the next few days, we took a cab. Too expensive for our budget…but it was late, dark, and we were tired. Hello, new country. Hello, Scotland.
