TUESDAY, JULY 23
Boris Johnson was voted Prime Minister of Britain and we were back in Crawley, running errands. It was a long, hot night in a Travelodge with no air conditioning and a window that only opened a crack. The temperature is again in the 30s.
First order of business, returning Chloe’s computer to the computer/electronics store, CEX pronounced sex. We alerted them of the problems with the computer and let them know when we would be there. They were so kind. And, we got a refund! One small catch. We had to purchases a new charger for the computer (70 pounds) because we sent the other one home. Still it was a 545 pound return. Excellent.
Then we rushed to Top Stop before Patrick arrived from Kent. We wanted to get our stuff taken care of before he arrived. It was a really hard time for Patrick, his father just passed away. Top Shop total success. Chloe got two pairs of pants, three tops and a hair band for 87 pounds and Patrick only waited 10 minutes at the pub down the street.
A teary beer, and some sad moments, then I was off to my hair appointment. Patrick drove, and tucked himself away across the street in a pub. I turned my hair a dark brown and got a bob. Off came more than five inches.
Lunch/dinner at our favorite Crawley restaurant, Turtle Bay. Patrick left for Kent; Chloe and I walked around Crawley for an hour, and the day came to a successful, hot and quiet end. We would leave for Liverpool the next day.
