MY BIRTHDAY IN CASTLETOWNSEND

The Story · October 12, 2018

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12

stone church in Castletownsend
Stone church in Castletownsend…kind of taking the day off of photo taking!

It was my birthday, and it was perfect. The day started with our private (no one else was signed up) Callanetics class. This was our last class before leaving West Cork. Sad to leave Justina, drove back under a dark sky and heavy rain. Maybe it always rains when we go to Callanetics.

The rain stopped just long enough for us to walk the loop. I went into the water in my rain boots, and felt the pressure of the sea against my legs. A mist rolled over the hills as we returned home.

Dinner was at a pub in Castletownsend. We dressed up, which meant for me changing from my every day jeans to nicer pants. Chloe wore a skirt. We arrived early to explore the town but there was nothing to explore. All the shops were closed. The streets deserted. So we climbed the stairs at the end of main street to a stone church, and looked out over the cliff at the deep grey ocean.

Birthday photo — looks like fake smiles

After dinner, Chloe baked an unsuccessful lemon cake and we sat in the solarium, talking and laughing.
