FRIDAY, DECEMBER 28
We shopped all over Madrid; maybe visiting 15 stores, from small boutiques to H&M. We weren’t shopping because we like to. Just the opposite. We had a mission. Chloe needs clothes for Milan.
Poor Hazel. She spent most of the day on benches or in chairs outside fitting rooms. I spent the day looking through clothes racks, hanging up clothes. But Chloe had the worst of it, she tried on everything.
And after a full day, we still hadn’t found a coat, boots or jeans. And Hazel and I still needed to buy Chloe’s birthday presents.
HAVING HAZEL AND WONDERING ABOUT THE FUTURE
Both Chloe and I have quickly adjusted to Hazel with us. Already it feels like we can’t be without her.
But tensions (fear) are on the uptick as Milan approaches, which is totally understandable. Chloe is jumping into the unknown and there is a lot of pressure. At the least, this next phase will be an experience, an incredible chance to go places most people never go, working in a foreign country with people from around the world. Daunting and thrilling, even without the excitement of modeling.
December is nearly over. Hard to believe. So much happens in a month; yet, time, so rich and full, passes slowly. I realize how swiftly our year is passing. Four months into the year; 1/4 of our trip complete.
Hazel must have let the cats into her room for the night, because all is quiet and calm where I sleep on the couch in the living room. Expecting a good night’s sleep, thanks to Hazel.
