MONDAY, SEPT. 17
I felt Chloe relaxing, sinking in and accepting the pace and routine of our new lives. That said, I think she is also missing the excitement of Vancouver’s fashion week. I know I am. For me, it is so thrilling to see her on the runway.
We’ve talked about whether she wants to model in Europe; she wants to give it a shot. Next week, once Vancouver fashion week is over, she’ll send a note to her agent asking for meetings with London agencies, which means after Edinburgh, we’ll go back to London for a longer stay.
The computer…It’s working, though I was warned it probably isn’t trustworthy (but then, they said, no Apple computer is…They thought that was funny.) I wonder what moment my computer will decide to go black and die. You could say I’m typing on pins and needles. I’ve looked into buying a computer in London or online, but there is no good solution…particularly not financially given that we are just starting our trip.
SALLY & ROSIE
We walked with Sally and her collie, Rosie, around the loop. Sally, a fast walker, is as much a talker as Fiona, but more serious. Some of the women around here find her intimidating but we just find her fascinating. She has only very recently retired from a long career with the United Nations where she started as a UNICEF fieldworker in various African countries and eventually became responsible for organizing the United Nation Women organization. After living in New York City and Geneva, she and her husband, along with their very spirited and bright puppy, Rosie, have settled in West Cork, near Union Hall, in a beautiful pale yellow home on the hill looking toward Glendore.
When the three of us and two dogs were nearly home, Olive pulled up in her car to say “hi.”. We’d heard a lot about Olive and created images of what we thought she would be like. She wasn’t at all what we expected. She has an angular face, wears glasses and has long red hair. I expected dark, short and earthy.
At home, we called to sign up for Wednesday night yoga classes. That should be fun…to be in a class with locals.
I need my bank card. Yikes! What happened there?
