ALWAYS DREAD A FLIGHT — ATHENS TO BARI, ITALY
The dreaded travel day — flying Athens to Bari. All went smoothly, if too hot, until we came to our dump of a room. Saved by Italian food, though!
MYSTERIOUS MATERA, ITALY
The morning bus ride from Bari delivers us to sweltering and mysterious Matera, Italy, the designated Cultural Capital City of Europe.
NO MORE DAYTIME HEAT, MATERA AT NIGHT!
We stayed out of the midday heat and enjoyed wandering the length of the Sassi, in Matera, Italy, in the evening.
